Communication is all around us; it cannot be escaped. Therefore, it is essential that we begin to understand the various types of speech communication, the processes for using it and ways in which it affects us. The goal of this class is to make us aware of what we already experience and engage in on a daily basis -- to give labels and explanations for elements that we instinctively know but do not actively think about. Public Speaking is more than just a class; it is a necessity of the present that should be analyzed, practiced and mastered!

On behalf of the Coastline College staff and support personnel catering specifically to the distance learner, I welcome you to the online offering of Speech 200. This course will introduce you to speech communications, give you the tools to become more proficient in the art and provide you with opportunities for practice which will lend to your overall competence.
