Don't post questions for me on the class discussion board as I only check there occasionally.

Please note that I'm only in the office once a week, so if you leave a message there you can anticipate a delay in response.  I   pick up my e-mails every day, so that's the quickest way to reach me.  I try to respond to e-mails within 24 hours.  If you have a  pressing question you can call my cell phone, but be aware that I do turn it off when I'm in a class or meeting.  Also, if you're calling from out of state, remember that I'm on Pacific Standard time.

Important Note:

All email communication from Coastline College (including communication from your instructor), will go to your student email account (the one ending in @student.cccd.edu). You can access your student email account by going to the [Home] tab in MyCCC and clicking on the G-mail Account link. For instructions how to forward emails from your student G-mail account to a personal email account, refer to the following PDF file.

Course Notes

For each week you will do the following:

  • Look over the Lesson Outcomes, Lesson Preview, and Key Terms.  These will help direct you to important concepts and key ideas that you should be considering as you read.
  • View the online streaming video lessons and/or listen to the audio lectures. I suggest that you take notes as you view and/or listen.
  • Do the assigned readings. As you're doing the readings, you may wish to refer back to the Lesson Outcomes and Key Terms
  • Take the quizzes.  See the class schedule for due dates.
  • Post on the the discussion forum.  I've posted some questions that you can respond to and some instructions.  This is a graded assignment, but don't get freaked out.  I'm looking for responses that demonstrate that you've thought a bit about the material and the questions, but I'm certainly not looking for perfection.
  • Submit the analysis papers.   Specific instructions and the required documents can be found in the Exam Information page.   You'll also need to create a Turnitin.com account to submit your writing assignments.
  •  Submit the papers for the midterm and final.  Please see the Exam Information page for instructions.

Also:

  • Remember to use your Coastline e-mail account.  If I have any announcements or if I need to contact you, this is the e-mail I'll be using.
  • Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have a question or a problem.  Often times students will fall a little behind, and then decide to just drop the course.  If there is any reasonable way I can help you to succeed in this class, I will do it -- that's my job.
